Tramore Branch welcomes one-way system PDF Print E-mail

The Tramore Branch of Waterford Chamber has welcomed the introduction of the new one-way traffic system in the town centre. Chairperson Jim Hally stated that the introduction of the system has been a long term objective of the Tramore Branch: “We have actively campaigned for this system for a number of years and so we are delighted to finally see it in place. A lack of parking facilities has been cited as a major concern to businesses in the town. We hope that the new system relieves the traffic problems and frees up more parking spaces which will positively impact upon both businesses and the general public.”

The Tramore Branch has been part of the traffic working group which came up with the plan for the one-way system. The group consisted of representatives from the Tramore Branch, Co. Council, Town Councillors and Gardaí. Local businesses and residents were then invited to make their own submissions to the plan.

Mr Hally continued, “We would like to thank the Co. Council, our elected representatives and local Gardai with whom we worked with to formulate plan for the one-way system. We would also like to thank the Council staff for their hard work putting the system in place last week which included working late into the night and early in the morning.”

The Tramore Branch would also like to thank the Town Council for their contribution to the Christmas lighting which will go a long way towards paying for the cost of the lights.
