The Tramore Branch of Waterford Chamber has welcomed the introduction of the new one-way traffic system in the town centre. Chairperson Jim Hally stated that the introduction of the system has been a long term objective of the Tramore Branch: “We have actively campaigned for this system for a number of years and so we are delighted to finally see it in place. A lack of parking facilities has been cited as a major concern to businesses in the town. We hope that the new system relieves the traffic problems and frees up more parking spaces which will positively impact upon both businesses and the general public.”

The Christmas lights in Tramore town centre were officially turned on by Mayor Paddy O’Callaghan last Tuesday at Tramore Indoor Market. The Tramore Branch of Waterford Chamber once again raised the necessary funds to cover the cost of lighting through contributions from local businesses.
Chairperson of the Tramore Branch James Hally thanked all contributors: “Without the support of local businesses there would be no festive lights in the town this Christmas and we thank them for contributing despite the difficult economic circumstances businesses face. We would also like to thank Tramore Scout Troop who generously donated €500 and thank Tom Flavin and Tom Bolster for putting up the lights. Special thanks also to Tramore Indoor Market for providing mulled wine and food for those present at the switching on of the lights.
“We hope that in turn the general public will support businesses in the town by shopping local as much as possible,” concluded Mr Hally.
Any business that hasn’t made a contribution and wishes to do so can hand it into either J. Hally Solicitors or Lawrence & McDonald on Main Street. Cheques to be made out to Tramore Christmas Lighting Fund. |

Speaking at the event Jim Hally, Chair of the Tramore Branch gave an update on the imminent one-way traffic system to be introduced shortly: “The Tramore Branch has lobbied for a solution to the problem of inadequate parking in the town centre for a number of years through meetings with elected representatives and consultation with local businesses. As a result of this continued lobbying, the one-way system will be introduced within the coming weeks.”
The Tramore Branch would like to thank Âme Holistic Centre for hosting the event and Quish’s SuperValu for sponsoring the business card draw which was won by John Culbert of Tramore Credit Union.
