With up to 500,000 visitors due in the city and along the Suir Estuary for Waterford’s hosting of The Tall Ships Races 2011 from June 30-July 3, civic, Waterford’s businesses have joined forces to offer punters some extra special deals during the festival.

Getting into the theme of the Tall Ships festivities Waterford’s businesses, led by Chamber and the Waterford Retailers Association, have joined forces to offer a truly nautical welcome to visitors to the city.
Commenting on the retail plan Waterford Chamber President Anne Marie Caulfield said, “June 30 to July 3 will be landmark days for visitor numbers due to arrive in Waterford City and environs. Businesses are looking to capitalise on the opportunities created by such large numbers of visitors coming to the City. Extending a very warm welcome to all visitors and locals alike, Waterford businesses are planning to offer great value and discounts to shoppers during the Tall Ships Festival.”
Conscious that with over 500,000 visitors there is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the City and encourage visitors back for a repeat visit Businesses plan to festoon the City with bunting, balloons and themed posters. There will be lots of nautical themed windows, colouring competitions, and lots more activities all designed to contribute to Ireland’s biggest Quayside Party. |
