Membership 2010

We would like to sincerely thank all our members for their support of Waterford Chamber in 2009. Without the support of our member businesses we would not be able to deliver our business services and networking events, or promote Waterford City and County.

We would like to remind members of just some of our work during 2009:

  • Designation of university status for Waterford Institute of Technology is still top of our agenda and we have continued to lobby for this vital facility for Waterford and the South East
  • We have promoted Waterford through our organisation of the Harvest Food Festival, Waterford Fashion Week, Halloween Spookfest, Value Waterford booklet, Christmas in Waterford and half price car parking for the Christmas season
  • We have promoted Waterford through our support of the Irish Hot Air Ballooning Championships, Destination Tramore promotion and local community groups
  • Over 30 networking events and seminars, many of which were free of charge
  • Over 90 funded training courses (1,000 participants) through our Skillnet
  • Exclusive member discounts with Aer Arann and Stena Line
  • Member Affinity Scheme with over 100 special offers for members, driving business between members and giving members opportunities to promote their products & services to other members
  • Nearly 50 new members joined in 2009
  • Chamber website is achieving high traffic with an average of 250 unique visitors per day

Testimonials

“I believe that the Waterford Chamber is an excellent conduit, to raise basic issues that are relevant to the South East Region as a whole, for example the granting of University status for the WIT and addressing the issue of Planning in the city, both of which are vital to the future success of the South East.

They have brought agencies, companies and people together, and present a unified position, strengthening the voice of the city and region.” John Fagan, Regional Director – South East, Bank of Scotland (Ireland)

“For the past six years, Genzyme Ireland has been a member of Waterford Chamber. With an investment of over €270million & employing over 400 people in Waterford, we are very proud to play such a leading role in the local economy. Through our membership of Waterford Chamber, we are supporting continued development of Waterford as a place to do business. Our senior management & staff all gain from our membership and we look forward to our involvement with the Chamber Board & staff members for 2008 and beyond.’’ Dominic Carolan GM, Genzyme Ireland

“As reflected in the Chamber Gateway Status Conference & many other events, Waterford Chamber is unafraid to ask the hard questions and to act upon the issues which are pertinent to Waterford’s development. The Chamber’s role in promoting Waterford steps up a notch each year and hopefully this will continue. The financial services sector is doing well in Waterford but the potential is immense and the Chamber will continue to play a key role in promoting the attributes of Waterford as a City in which to locate. The Chamber is also very strongly supportive of WIT in its bid for University status, a development that is vital for Waterford's future well-being. I look forward to seeing what’s next on the Waterford Chamber agenda.” Jim Power, Chief Economist, Friends First, Chamber Member & Dublin Ambassador

“Waterford Chamber membership is an investment in my own company. As a self employed business coach, I value best practice and efficiency and have found these approaches very evident in the way in which Chamber conducts its business. Mailings to members and word of mouth have proven to be highly effective in promoting my business to the local market”. Martin Byrne, Owner & Director, LMI

“We have recently established a web design and software development company in Waterford and were delighted to become involved with Waterford Chamber. As owners of a start up company, every new contact we make is valuable to us. Time is also a commodity and we need to balance time spent seeking new business opportunities with time dedicated to the running of our business. Our membership of the Chamber has been very effective in helping us to get the balance right. Chamber networking events have provided us with an excellent and effective networking platform.” Ray Leahy & Kim Leahy, Cquent Ltd.

“Being an active member of the Waterford Chamber Skillnet has meant that every effort is made to ensure our organisational training requirements are looked after. Once the content of the course is agreed with you, everything else is done, all you have to do is ensure the people turn up on time.” Stephanie Coffey, Teva Pharmaceuticals
