At a recently held South East Chambers meeting Michael Garland and Orm Kenny had the opportunity to speak with John Trethowan, Credit Reviewer, of the recently formed Credit Review Office (CRO).
Orm Kenny, Secretary of Waterford Chamber commented, “We had the opportunity to meet recently with Mr John Trethowan at a meeting organised by South East Chambers, to which Waterford Chamber is affiliated. I have to say Mr Trethowan is very enthusiastic about his role and has reported a very good success rate in the appeals process. He assures us that all our comments would be taken back to government and where possible acted upon. Mr Trethowan also asked all the South East Chambers to be proactive in promoting the Credit Review Office web site and telephone number: www.creditreview.ie and 1850 211789. We would encourage all businesses to contact the CRO if they feel that credit facilities have been unfairly refused, reduced or withdrawn.”
Michael Garland, CEO of Waterford Chamber who also attended the meeting added, “It was very refreshing to see someone so committed to helping struggling businesses. John clearly wishes to do all that he can to help businesses in these difficult times. We would urge businesses to get in touch with the CRO if they feel they have a viable case. I understand that John will take back all our comments to government and I hope that we now see some of the shackles removed from business lending.” |
