Waterford City Safe has as it's main aims:
- To reduce the number of alcohol-related assaults and injuries.
- To work in partnership with the authorities and the licensed trade to improve the management of licensed premises.
- To promote the provision of safe drinking.
- To reduce perceptions of drunkenness, rowdiness and disorder in Waterford City's night-time economy.
The Waterford City Safe alliance is committed to ensuring that Waterford's City Centre area is and remains safe and secure for visitors, residents and employees alike.
Fully trained P.S.A. Licensed staff, man the doors of late night establishments, seven nights a week.
Front door security personnel are easily identifiable in their red "Waterford City Safe" jackets and they are linked by two way radio to the Gardaí, as well as to other venues and the results of this collaboration have been a dramatic reduction in serious incidents in the area.

The Alliance is an active supporter and participant in local community quality of life initiatives such as having an attractive and clean city centre and to tackling the presence of graffiti artists, illegal peddlers and drug dealers.
In addition to a zero tolerance of anti social behaviour by local Gardaí and Venue Security Staff, Waterford City Safe works to improve and promote the city centre - cultivating the creativity, energy and edge that makes Waterford renowned as an icon of entertainment, culture and urban life.
Waterford City Safe is a concept which aims to reduce alcohol-related crime, disorder and anti-social behaviour, both inside premises and in public spaces.
Since its inception last year all of the stakeholders have come together to cooperate with each other to reduce incidences that cause a negative image of going out in Waterford City and the results to date have been very encouraging.
