Waterford Chamber Launch Innovative New Business Networking Website for Busy Members

Waterford Chamber recently launched an innovative new networking website in direct response to the needs and demands of some of their younger members who are busy trying to successfully balance work, home and parental responsibilities.

BusinessVillage.ie: The Committee!

BusinessVillage.ie is aimed directly at members who wish to avail of all the benefits of belonging to the Chamber from the convenience of their own desk or indeed home. The website’s lifestyle-friendly approach makes it possible for members to network, seek business advice, share their opinion about Chamber matters, learn about upcoming events or indeed even to find a good restaurant based on shared opinions and reviews.

Speaking about the new service, Project Leader at Waterford Chamber of Commerce, Claire Phelan said “During the course of the last few years, we realised that there was a real need for the Chamber to provide a solution to some of the challenges facing some of our younger members in respect of time and home role constraints. We launched www.businessvillage.ie only last week and already have over 100 members, which we believe is a real testament to the need for a service such as this in Waterford. Key members of the business community who previously had no time to network or to find service providers can achieve the desired result without leaving their desks.”

The website can also be used by companies who have need to introduce new members of staff to Waterford, an increasingly relevant service as more multinationals consider the benefits of moving their operations from other Irish cities to the Southeast.

Most interestingly perhaps is the fact that the Chamber sees BusinessVillage.ie as a valuable succession planning opportunity.

“Quite literally, businessvillage.ie provides a platform for the thoughts of our future Chamber board members and leaders of the community who are currently using the site to discuss the issues and hot topics of the day in Waterford.” said Waterford Chamber CEO, Monica Leech.

Whilst BusinessVillage.ie is primarily anchored in business it also delves into issues related to the work place but which are not strictly business, such as discussions on work-life balance, personal development and lifestyle. Further information and details on how to sign up to businessvillage.ie is available by either visiting the site or by contacting directly Claire Phelan on 051 872639.
