Building Energy Rating (BER)

This major course, from Tipperary Institute, was delivered to €collective delegates in April 2008. These delegates are now qualified to issue the BER certificates required by law on all new dwelling houses. They enjoyed a 70% FAS training subsidy, reducing the course cost from €2,000 to only €700.

Such was the popularity of the course that we subsequently ran an upgrade course, again with Tipperary Institute and FAS funding, to qualify the delegates for existing dwelling houses. The law requires that these dwellings have a BER certificate from January 2009.

We are also planning to offer a new course from Tipperary Institute, covering both new and existing dwellings, for more €collective delegates in February 2009. Prospective delegates should book their places direct with Tipperary Institute and at the same time advise the €collective programme manager in order to apply for the subsidised rate.
