Waterford City takes on the opposition PDF Print E-mail

A group of Waterford Chamber retail members from the City Centre has taken to the national and regional airwaves to promote Waterford City this Christmas.

The retail committee of Waterford Chamber has commissioned a marketing campaign that will serve to showcase the "twinkling pedestrian streets" and "a city buzzing with festive cheer" to a regional and national audience.

According to Monica Leech, Chief Executive of Waterford Chamber, the marketing campaign was implemented in order to highlight what Waterford, as the capital of the South East has to offer. "We are very fortunate in Waterford to have such a vibrant city centre, bursting with a huge selection of independent shops and famous international stores, award-winning restaurants and ample city centre parking."

Anne Marie Caulfield, newly elected chair of the retail committee, says this should just be the start, "Waterford has shown great fortitude in recent years with so many new retail developments taking place throughout the country. Those of us in retail in Waterford recognise how challenging the next few years will be and it's up to us to take on the opposition in new and imaginative ways".

The regional campaign consists of a series of radio ads running on KCLR FM (Kilkenny and Carlow), Tipp FM (Tipperary), South East Radio (Wexford) and the South East's regional station, Beat 102-103.

Waterford's national profile will be quite high in the coming weeks with coverage in the form of supplements in two national newspapers. The Sunday Tribune recently printed an eight page supplement and The Independent plans to print a similar feature prior to Christmas.
