WLR FM were winners at the 2008 PPI Radio Awards

radio_awardsWLR fm recieved the silver award for best local radio station at the 2008 PPI Radio Awards. From 25 stations considered for the award WLR FM came second only to lose out to BBC Radio Ulster with Radio Kerry taking bronze. Des Whelan, MD WLR FM Said "Its a fantastic acievement and recognises the contribution of everyone working here both on air, in news, sport and programmes and also those in advertising, IT and admin. Well done to everyone and theres no doubt we can go one better next year. " Kevin Csasey also picked up the Bronze award for his programme on the fall of Justin McCarthy.

The Awards night took place in The Lyrath Estate Hotel on the 10th of October.
