This year is likely to see the most important and interesting Budget in many years. The Irish Government’s Budget for 2009 will be presented by the Minister for Finance Brian Lenihan TD on Tuesday, 14 October. In response to this, Waterford Chamber in association with PricewaterhouseCoopers will host a Breakfast Briefing which will outline the key issues arising from this Budget.
Ronan Furlong and Jim McCleane from PricewaterhouseCoopers will be discussing the business and personal tax changes announced in the Budget, while Mary Mosse will give an overview of the economic background to the Budget and the likely impact of various changes on the Irish economy. Ronan Furlong is a partner in the tax and legal services division of the PricewaterhouseCoopers South East practice. He specialises in delivering advice to family businesses and to High Net Worth Individuals.
Jim McCleane is Tax Director in the same group specialising in restructuring and succession planning. Jim is also a board member and treasurer of Waterford Chamber of Commerce.
Mary Mosse is course director of the WIT Business School Postgraduate Research programme. She is a senior lecturer in economics and is a former economist with the Deptartment of Agriculture and Food, Goodbody James Capel Stockbrokers and the Irish Trade Board.
